Its spring time and as the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” Have you seen any beautiful flowers outside yet? While we usually just admire flowers for their beauty, we could learn a thing or two from the flower. Here are some lessons that we can learn from the flower.
- Grows toward Light: The flower grows toward the light. One main thing required for plants to perform photosynthesis and grow is light. A flower cannot bloom unless they have light. The flower understands how important the light is to its growth so it grows toward it. Just like the flower grows toward the light, we must do the same. Our light is Jesus. Growing towards Jesus means that we should be in constant communication with Him, reading the bible, praying, doing devotions, having bible studies and telling others about Him. As we go throughout our life we should strive to grow closer to the light and everything else will fall into place. Jesus will help us to bloom in all areas of our life but we must keep our eyes fixed on Him.
- Appeal: The flower is very appealing to other creatures. It doesn’t just look good but it smells good. It attracts birds and bees. Is your life appealing? Do you have an impact? It is not just our job to grow toward the light but we should also strive to be the light. It is important for us to ensure that we aren’t just taking from the world but that we are actually putting something back into the world. We were all blessed with various talents and gifts and someone somewhere is waiting for you to share your special gift with the world. You may be surprised at how many people may be inspired by you.

- No comparison: The flower doesn’t compare itself to the flower next to it. It just grows. In life, we often compare ourselves to the next person, whether it be related to beauty, intellect or success. We work extremely hard editing pictures or doing just a little extra in order to be better than the other person. One important thing that you must understand is that whatever you do in life, do it for you! We all were created with different gifts and talents and to serve different purposes so it makes no sense to compare. Just be the best version of yourself for yourself.

- Patience: The flower takes time to grow. The work of the plant takes time. Photosynthesis does not happen overnight. The plant works diligently to make food in order to grow and bloom into the beautiful flower that everyone admires. Similarly, growth in life is not an overnight process. It takes hard work, dedication and sleepless nights. Our goals will not be achieved overnight, sometimes it may even take years for the dream to become reality. Remember that every good thing takes time and greatness should not be rushed.
There is a lesson in everything and even a flower can teach us important lessons about life. In this season, get ready to be like the flower and bloom!
