Graduation

“Whatever it takes, I know I can make it through.”

Welcome to Part 1 of my Graduation Series!
Through the sleepless nights, library sessions and tears, I made it through law school! We thank God!
On July 23, ya girl graduated with her Bachelor of Laws degree!! Three years of stress, hard work and tears culminated with the big walk across the stage.
Now that it is officially over, I have to do some serious thinking about what’s next for my life. I’m planning on going to Bar School for 1 year to complete the Bar Professional Training Course to become a qualified Barrister. However, I still feel unsure about what exactly I want to do. Being a college/university graduate can create a daunting feeling because we are now in the real world. The mistakes that we were once able to get away with can no longer fly and we’re held to a higher standard.
Also, after college, sometimes things do not go the way we would have hoped for it to. This  is a confusing and challenging time in our lives where we have to figure out our routines all over again. However, I believe life after college provides an outlet for us to truly find ourselves, away from all of the friends and all of the pressures of college life.

While I’m not officially done with higher education, I am going on a new journey away from my family and uni friends  and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Here are my answers to some questions recent graduates often get.

How has life after uni been for you so far?
I’ve been busy ever since I graduated, working and completing the necessary tasks to get into Bar School. I’m not going to lie, life after uni has been a bit stressful (This adulting thing is not fun). I’m still growing and learning more about myself. All in all, I’m looking forward to what the future holds.

What has been your biggest lesson during and after uni?
My biggest lesson during uni was to never let anyone shatter your dreams. I remember the negative feedback I got from a law professor when I said I wanted to be a Barrister. Check out my blog about that here Shattered Dreams. Another lesson that I learned is that God places you in places for a specific purpose and it’s our duty to figure out what that purpose is and then to fulfill it.

Lesson after uni
If you want other people to believe in you, you first have to believe in yourself. God didn’t bring you this far to only bring you this far. I tend to doubt myself A LOT and I’m still trying to work on that. I also learned that God knows what’s best for us and things may not work out in our time but it will definitely work out in His time.
What piece of advice do you have for someone in uni?
Believe in yourself. Work hard. Make lasting connections and make an impact! Uni is what you make it so make it rock (I apologize for the Camp Rock reference) 🙂

Honestly, leading up to graduation day, everything was going wrong for me including hating my dress and having to order one at the last minute. But guess what? Everything worked out in the end!
That last minute dress turned out perfectlyyyy might I add!
See for yourself below. 🙂

This blog was created during my first term of Law School. This journey has truly been a roller coaster ride and I want you guys to come on this journey with me as I go through the ups and downs of surviving as a young adult and I hope you're inspired by some of the lessons I've learnt along the way.
